Educators recognize that children are highly motivated by special people they trust and admire. Our productions take advantage of the natural attraction to Firefighters and Circus Performers and feature fresh new ways to make eating nutritious foods desirable.
In Lesson 1 & 2 The Florida State University Flying High Circus Performers model effective snacking habits for the Start Smarter students and your class. The new food pyramid is reviewed as well as the importance of eating a wide variety of different colored foods.
In Lesson 3 Firefighter George, with the help of The Atlanta New Century School, prepares your class to handle an emergency and dial 911. Your students will see situations such as:
• A house with smoke coming out of it
• A child in the water in trouble
• A parent unconscious on the ground
• A burglar trying to break into a house
• Real children respond to the emergencies and dial 911
Along with this production, students build key Math and Reading skills with our comprehensive, classroom-tested activities. All Start Smarter lesson plans are organized in Math and English Language Arts according to the NCTM and NCTE teaching standards and employ a variety of activities to reach the multiple intelligences of all learners in the classroom.
